Pitch 1
intitial film pitch
Feedback from teacher
Our teacher liked the concept of our first plot and the effects that we stated we wanted to use in the trailer and felt that we had a clear understanding of what we wanted to achieve.
However, she did specify the potential problems that could arise, and as a result she suggested a range of ideas that would make the trailer better and more effective.
-
Parties are difficult to stage effectively- the actors neeed to willing to act out a scene of a party to create the realism.
-
We need to keep it simplistic and have less people, so that we don't over complicate things.
-
Filming a funeral might be difficult as we need to gain permission into the gathering and into the grave site. Also finding a coffin that would make it seem more real
-
The scene where the party is being shot - it could show how each person gets possessed
-
The question of - why is it an issue if someone dies?
-
Making it seem like it was an accident - they are more effective and make the audience on edge as to what will happen next. It also creates distance between the character and the audience as the character disobeys what was inscripted on the vase
-
The vase could be passed onto each character and they could each be contemplating whether to go against what has been instructed, the confusion and the frantic pace emerges, causing it to smash - the person whose hand it lands in last.
-
Once the mist from the vase disperses the person who is possessed - how will that person react (what threat will they have on the other characters
-
The other characters will have to kill the possesed in order to bind the evil lurking around.
-
The disruption it causes needs to be stated
-
There needs to be a hero - how will the hero ultimately save the day and bring about restoration
-
We need to find out what scares people - in order to gain a closer insight into what works effectively.
-
Go over Todorov's explanation for narrative in order to work out how the trailer will be structured and developed.
Action plan
I plan to use todorov's theory to create a new pitch based on a scary story i find and adapt and to use fewer characters in my movie. The idea needs to be simplistic and one that can be expanded on.
