Brainstorming Ideas

These are initial ideas to expand on.

by Rebecca King

This is our initial idea. We decided not to use it and it didnt make it through the planning process. It was important for the storyline to be interesting, simplistic and to captivate the audience.

This idea had less room for expansion than others so it was scraped, however  it does have the beginnings of a good storyline and could have gone further had we decided it was a good enouh candidate.

The first mind map depicts how my partner and I would tackle a trailer using either the horror convention or the thriller.

The two conventions have different aims and although they link they are also different. Much of the things associated with thrillers can be used in horror trailers such as fighting and blood. The aim of horror is often to scare the audience, whereas the thriller genre relies more on action and adrenaline to satisfy movie goers.

After examining the two genres we decided to make our movie horror.

We then wrote down the things we associate with horror such as ghosts and blood. These are expectations we have for horror movies.

Second Pitch Idea Planning

These are the notes that explain our ideas for our horror trailer storyline.

these are the notes that we used to flesh out our idea into a horror film trailer synopsis.

This is the brainstorm that led to our second pitch, hinging on the one common saying 'to turn a blind eye', twisted into a horror story. The concepts were simple, implications subtle and the storyline easily expanded. This is why we chose to pursue this storyline over others.
