How We Did It
The green screen effect can put a person in any location, either a video or image and is often used in films and music videos. To create a green screen in Adobe Premier Pro:
1. Firstly film the person in the foreground of the video in front of a green screen. Make sure the green screen is well lit and has as few creases as possible for this task.
2. Open (file- import) and edit the video to your chosen length in Adobe Premier Pro then drag the video into video 2 on your timeline.
3. Place the video/image that will replace the green screen in video 1 on your timeline.
4. Go to effects tab and type in the search bar ‘Chroma Key’ or alternatively find it under ‘Video Effects’ – ‘Keying’ – ‘Chroma Key’. Drag the ‘Chroma Key’ effect into video 2 in which the green screen is located.
5. Using the upper middle screen locate the ‘Chroma Key’ controls by clicking the down (expand) arrow. Select the eyedropper tool and select the darkest part of the green screen.
6. Use similarity underneath the eyedropper icon and slide right until green is completely replaced by the movie/image background.
7. Use other tools such as ‘cut off’, ‘blend’ and ‘threshold’ to neaten up the view of the foreground on the background.
8. Finally render the video and export it as a ‘.mov’.
